WATER CONSERVATION DATA TECHNICIAN I:

PAY RANGE: $18.05 – $18.70 Hourly

POSITION DURATION: 3 Months

SCHEDULE: 9/80 (7:30 – 5:30)

LOCATION: Imperial Valley

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The examples of essential functions listed below are representative but not necessarily exhaustive or descriptive and incumbent may be assigned other related functions not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment for the position.
  • Conducts technical field and site visits for planning, data collection and measurement purposes, and to verify compliance with water department programs and district operating rules and regulations.
  • Operates level and rod to conduct basic surveys of fields to verify project boundaries and set elevation references.
  • Installs, configures, calibrates, repairs and/or maintains data logging devices (both mechanical and electronic), sensors, weather stations and related appurtenances and structures.
  • Meters delivery of water to calibrate data logging devices and rating of flow measuring devices or structures.
  • Collects, receives and performs basic analyses of water and silt samples using the appropriate protocols and testing methodology.
  • Maintains physical and electronic logs, records, databases and files.
  • Assists with the interpretation and evaluation of field data, including the calculation of flow, volume, turbidity, evaporation, transpiration and other irrigation related information.
  • Operates personal computer using commercial and custom made software to enter, store, manipulate and retrieve data and to generate records, files, graphs and reports.
  • Operates palm-top and lap-top computers and portable terminals using commercial and custom-made software to calibrate and configure electronic equipment.

Education:

High school equivalent with supplemental college courses in engineering and advanced mathematics

Experience:

One year of field data collection, water flow and soil studies experience.

Licensing:

A valid drivers’ license issued by the State of California, Department of Motor Vehicles is required
