Maint Tech III (Machinist)
The machinist technician is responsible for the safe, proper, and efficient operation of precision equipment to fabricate or repair machine parts, tools, pumps and valves. Works with precision equipment in order to maintain strict tolerances and dimensions. Overtime and shift-work may be required. Work performed under supervision and direction from the maintenance supervisor.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
Under instructions, set up and operates precision machine tools in order to machine parts, tools, pumps and valves. This equipment includes: vertical mills, surface grinders, horizontal lathes, boring mills, drill press, bench grinders, chop saw, band saw and mobile in place machining.

Measure parts and produce sketches or drawings in such detail as to allow the accurate duplication of the part. (10 %)
Under instructions, develop and create jigs and special tools as required to complete work safely and within time expectations. (5 %)
Must have knowledge of various metals in order to fabricate and machine parts. (5 %)
Maintain machine shop equipment and dispose of the cuttings in the proper metal containers. (5 %)
Responsible for the adherence to all safety and environmental policies set forth by BHE Renewables Completing all computer base training before due date. (5 %)
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma; minimum of one year related machining experience or appropriate certification program or equivalent education and experience.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of PC software application, including spreadsheet, word processing and database.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as periodicals, regulations and piping and instrumentation diagrams. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence accurately. Ability to communicate orally, including the use of a radio and group presentations.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
A valid California driver’s license is required.
